FAQ

  • How do I earn graduate credits?

2 graduate credits can be earned by doing all of the course work through Ashland University. You need to register with them and pay them an additional fee: https://www.nwpds.org/FoundationsTraumaInformed

  • Why Miami?

When we want to make changes it’s great to change our own environment. After spending time learning online, get out of the winter blues and into Florida sunshine. Our learning space is beautiful and Miami has a lot to offer. Come early or stay late to get more time for winter warmth.

  • What is the in person schedule?

Our tentative schedule is: Sunday afternoon- arrive & recover from travel. Sunday evening- 7pm group check in and orientation. Monday- 8-12, 2-5pm course work and practices. Tuesday 8-noon course work and practices. Tuesday afternoon- relax or travel home.

  • How do travel & accommodations work?

***Participants are responsible for their travel and hotel reservations.*** Book early to ensure space at our hotel! Rooms at the Marriott AC/Element typically come with free breakfast and a $25 food credit which is great to use at the rooftop pool. This is listed as two hotels, but they are very similar, connected, and share facilities. I always recommend travel insurance for illness, travel delays, and unforseen issues. Your course fee is non-refundable but may be transferable to another cohort.

  • How do I get there?

You can book an Uber or Lyft from Miami or Fort Lauderdale airports. There are other transportation options listed on the Miami airport website. Unless you are staying a while longer, you likely do not need to rent a car.

  • What should I pack?

The dress for this training is “comfortable.” Wear something to move in and bring whatever you’d like to wear out to relax or to explore the pool, city, docks, dining, or maybe even the beach. You might like to pack a yoga mat too.

  • Where can I eat?

Book your hotel room at the Brickell AC/Element now for free breakfast and daily food voucher. There is a grocery store in walking distance and a lot of dining and shopping across the street at the City Center. I’ve bought non-travel sized sunscreen, snacks, and even meals at the grocery store. You'll have plenty of food options in Miami!

  • Is there a refund if I can't make the in person training?

No. Your enrollment may be transferable to another in person cohort. I always suggest travel insurance just in case.

  • Is there a minimum number of participants?

We need at least 4 participants for this training. We will only accept 10. This is expected to sell out. However, if the minimum is not met, we will continue the online training and add another in-person option you can transfer to. I recommend travel insurance and flexible flights and hotel reservations.
